Samsung Display announced on April 29 that it is preparing to file a trademark application for the brand identity (BI) of its 'Quantum Dot Organic Light Emitting Diode (QD-OLED)' technology, which is mainly used in premium TV and monitor products.
The newly unveiled BI features a stylized 'Q', the first letter of QD-OLED technology, with a blue color representing blue OLED and a gradient symbolizing the wide color spectrum unique to QD-OLED.

According to Samsung Display, QD-OLED, which was first introduced at the end of 2021, has been incorporated into more than 170 TV and monitor products from 18 global brands, including Samsung Electronics, Sony, Dell, MSI, ASUS, and HP, thanks to its superior picture quality compared to conventional OLED. QD-OLED is currently recognized as the display with the widest color gamut among commercialized displays, and is regarded as the display that most accurately expresses intended colors.
A Samsung Display representative stated, "QD-OLED combines the excellent black expression of conventional OLED with the optical properties of quantum dots, enabling richer color expression and distortion-free picture quality from any angle," adding, "We plan to promote the outstanding picture quality and differentiated technological value of QD-OLED."
Meanwhile, Samsung Display plans to collaborate with various global customers in the future to showcase the new BI at domestic and international exhibitions and to apply the BI to customers' finished product packages as part of its technology branding efforts.
