Sacheon City Finalizes Names: "Uju Aerospace Bridge" and "Seonjin Turtle Ship Park"

Finalization of Names for Two Major Public Facilities in Sacheon City

Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on April 29 that, following deliberation and resolution by the Gyeongsangnam-do and Sacheon City Place Names Committee, it has finalized the names of two major public facilities within its jurisdiction.

The finalized names were determined after approximately one year of review. The existing Sacheon Aerospace Industry Bridge will now be officially named "Uju Aerospace Bridge," and Seonjin Waterfront Park will be officially renamed "Seonjin Turtle Ship Park."

Following this decision, Sacheon City will apply the finalized names to all facilities, signboards, websites, and various administrative documents. The city also plans to sequentially update any notices and signs that include the previous names in order to prevent confusion among residents.

An official from Sacheon City stated, "The newly designated place names reflect both the unique history of the region and its vision for future industries. In particular, 'Seonjin Turtle Ship Park' incorporates the park’s distinctive features into its name, linking it to local tourism resources. 'Uju Aerospace Bridge' symbolizes Sacheon's status as a hub of the aerospace industry, and with the opening of the Aerospace Administration, the name reflects the city’s identity as it ushers in the era of aerospace. We will work closely with relevant departments to promptly update all informational materials."

Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "By promoting the use of place names that embody Sacheon’s history and identity, we aim to enhance the spatial identity and symbolism of these locations, thereby contributing to the branding and revitalization of tourism in Sacheon. We will also systematically update the place names used in Sacheon to ensure consistency throughout the public information system."
