The prosecution also filed an appeal on April 23, citing the inadequacy of the sentence, meaning both sides will continue their legal battle in the appellate court.

Previously, on April 17, the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Moon Da-hye to a fine of 15 million won in the first trial.

Moon Da-hye was indicted on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act after she drove her car while heavily intoxicated and changed lanes, colliding with a taxi following behind her in front of the Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on October 5 last year.

She also faces charges of violating the Public Health Control Act for illegally operating an officetel in Yeongdeungpo-dong and a villa in Yangpyeong-dong, both in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, as well as a single-family house in Hyeopjae-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju City, as unlicensed lodging businesses, earning a total of 136 million won over approximately five years.
