The fire that broke out at 2:01 PM on April 28 in Hamjisan, Nogokdong, Bukgu, Daegu, continues to spread, carried by the wind.
As of 3:50 PM, the forestry authorities have issued a Level 2 forest fire response alert. They have deployed 19 helicopters, 38 pieces of equipment, and 165 personnel to battle the blaze. Level 2 is declared when the expected damage area is between 50 and 100 hectares, the average wind speed is 7 to 11 meters per second, and the estimated time to containment is less than 10 to 48 hours.
As the fire continues to spread, emergency alert text messages requesting residents to evacuate have been sent out in Nogokdong, where the fire started, as well as in nearby Joyadong.

The authorities have also established a defensive line to prevent the fire from reaching residential areas and have secured two buses to facilitate the emergency evacuation of residents with limited mobility.
The police have deployed multiple traffic patrol vehicles, eight teams from the multipurpose mobile unit and mobile patrol unit to Nogokdong and other areas to manage and control traffic at the scene. Korea Expressway Corporation announced that, as of 4:00 PM, both directions of entry and exit at the Bukdaegu Interchange on the Gyeongbu Expressway have been closed due to the Hamjisan forest fire.
The forestry authorities stated, "Because of the heavy smoke, we have not been able to identify the exact ignition point," and added, "We are doing our best to contain the fire as quickly as possible."
