Coloray Applies for 7th Round of "Specialized and Innovative Little Giant" Enterprise Designation

Coloray announced on April 28 that it received special guidance for its application to become a "Specialized and Innovative Little Giant" enterprise in the seventh round for 2025, coinciding with an on-site visit from officials including Qian Yin, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, Ma Suguang, Head of the Enterprise Services Division, and Huang Yong, Head of the division.

This visit was organized to conduct an in-depth review of Coloray's strategies in response to global trade changes, including the ongoing tariff war with the United States.

The "Specialized and Innovative Little Giant" enterprise designation is awarded by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to exemplary small and medium-sized enterprises that meet core criteria such as specialization, precision, distinctiveness, and innovation. Only companies with strengths in research and development, product marketability, business profitability, and growth potential are selected. The "Little Giant" application is recognized not only for providing short-term financial and policy support, but also as a strategic springboard for companies to become industry standards and expand into global markets.

Coloray has established an innovative technological standard in the domestic conductive coating materials sector with its independently developed "high-performance nano-fiber light-colored conductive powder for automotive primer" and "rod-shaped titanium dioxide-based conductive composite material."

Last year, the global titanium dioxide market was estimated at approximately $22 billion, with an expected compound annual growth rate of 4.5%. In particular, demand for conductive titanium dioxide-based materials is projected at 50,000 to 80,000 tons annually, with active use anticipated in various specialized functional applications.

Coloray has successfully developed a new conductive composite material using attapulgite (ATP) and mica as core ingredients, completely replacing traditional conductive titanium dioxide-based materials. Notably, the nano-fiber light-colored conductive powder combines ATO (antimony-doped tin oxide) coating technology with silica interlayer modification technology, simultaneously improving whiteness and conductivity. This effectively addresses the issues of dark color, easy oxidation, and high costs associated with traditional carbon-based and metal-based conductive materials.

In addition, the rod-shaped titanium dioxide-based conductive composite material significantly improves the mechanical performance of coatings through a unique organic surface modification technology and a three-dimensional network structure design. The use of conductive fillers has been reduced by 10-13% compared to international equivalents, and production costs have been lowered by more than 40%.

The rod-shaped titanium dioxide material developed by Coloray demonstrates outstanding performance in the conductive coating sector. The product's surface resistance is at the level of 1.0×10⁴ Ω, outperforming international competitors at 1.0×10? Ω. Furthermore, through eco-friendly process optimization, the production cost of conductive powder has been reduced to 100,000?120,000 yuan per ton (approximately 20?25 million KRW), providing a clear cost advantage over imported products, which cost 180,000?250,000 yuan per ton (about 35?50 million KRW).

Officials from the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology who visited on this day highly praised Coloray's achievements in new material research and development and encouraged continued innovation in the materials sector. Coloray plans to continue expanding its investments in technological innovation and actively broaden the application areas of new materials, including rod-shaped titanium dioxide. Through these efforts, the company aims to further enhance product quality and service levels, contributing to the advancement of the global industry.
