"Resolution for Export Promotion" ... Gyeongnam Nonghyup Holds Regular General Meeting of Gyeongnam Export Nonghyup Council

On April 28, Gyeongnam Nonghyup held the "2025 Regular General Meeting of the Gyeongnam Export Nonghyup Council" at the Changwon Rivera Convention Center, with more than 60 participants including heads of export-oriented Nonghyup cooperatives. During the meeting, they pledged to pool their capabilities and do their utmost to achieve this year's export target of 100 million dollars.

Despite challenging export conditions last year?including increased export costs due to global inflation, deteriorating profitability for export farmers caused by the prolonged depreciation of the Japanese yen, and changes in the agricultural environment resulting from climate change?Gyeongnam Nonghyup exported 94.99 million dollars' worth of products, mainly strawberries, paprika, persimmons, chestnuts, and flowers. As a result, it achieved the top national ranking in fresh agricultural product exports for the 27th consecutive year.

The Gyeongnam Export Nonghyup Council is a cooperative organization formed by Nonghyup branches in Gyeongnam that are either currently exporting or wish to export. Established in April 1999, the council has a total of 64 member cooperatives as of 2025.

Moon Suho, head of Jinju Sugok Nonghyup and newly appointed chairman of the council at the general meeting, stated, "Due to the aging farming population and a shortage of agricultural labor, the cultivation area for major export crops is decreasing, and the cost of farming materials is rising, increasing the burden on farmers and making exports more difficult. However, I urge all Nonghyup members of the Export Nonghyup Council to work together with related organizations to ensure that the determination of export-oriented farmers is not diminished."

Ryu Kilnyeon, head of Gyeongnam Nonghyup, said, "Exporting agricultural products not only helps maintain the domestic production base, but also promotes our fresh food overseas, thereby enhancing our national prestige. Our Nonghyup must continue to play a leading role in this effort."
