Insufficient Safety Management Plan
Completion Scheduled for June Next Year
Kim Taejin, a member of the Seogu Council in Gwangju (Progressive Party), pointed out during a five-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 330th extraordinary meeting on April 28 that the Yudeok-dong Multipurpose Center has been left unattended for over a month since its groundbreaking ceremony on March 28 due to insufficient safety management plans.
Assemblyman Kim stated, "The reason for the delay in the groundbreaking of the Yudeok-dong Multipurpose Center was that the safety management plan and the construction safety and health ledger, including structural calculations for supports (temporary earth retaining walls) to prevent construction site collapse, were inadequate when the groundbreaking application was submitted in February last year." He added, "As a result, the groundbreaking was delayed by two months from the originally planned date."
He further emphasized, "The role of the task force team related to the Yudeok-dong Multipurpose Center construction is crucial," and added, "Through the operation of the task force team, construction and safety management must be thoroughly carried out to ensure greater safety for Yudeok Middle School students and more convenience for residents."
The Yudeok-dong Multipurpose Center will consist of one basement floor and three above-ground floors, and will house a community cultural center, an on-site civil service office, and a health living support center. Completion is scheduled for June next year.
