According to Yangpyeong County on April 28, the development of tourist destinations centered around the three themes of "nature," "history," and "emotion" is a core strategy to transform Yangpyeong into a nationally renowned tourism city. Through various projects such as Yongmunsan Tourist Site, Yangpyeong International Peace Park, and Gudun Art Station, the county is working to increase the rate of return visits, which in turn is expected to drive the revitalization of the old downtown area and boost the local economy.

Yongmunsan Tourist Site, a representative tourist destination in the eastern region of Yangpyeong, attracts approximately 1.2 million visitors annually and has recently been upgraded to provide a more pleasant environment. Yongmunsan Tourist Site is a complex tourism area that combines nature and cultural heritage, including Yongmunsan Mountain, Yongmunsa Temple, and the Yongmunsa Ginkgo Tree, a natural monument. Notably, major local festivals such as the Yongmunsan Wild Herb Festival are held here every year.

Last year, Yangpyeong County invested 1 billion KRW to complete a project that separates pedestrian and vehicle roads, using eco-friendly materials to provide tourists with a safer and more convenient access environment. In addition, the county has renovated aging parking lots and facilities to maintain a pleasant environment at the tourist site.

Yangpyeong County is also actively pursuing the creation of the "Yangpyeong International Peace Park" to promote the region's historical value. Jipyeong-myeon, the site of a significant battle in 1951 where UN forces repelled a Chinese offensive during the Korean War, is an important historical site. To widely publicize its historical significance, the county plans to invest about 40 billion KRW to build the International Peace Park. The park will feature exhibition halls, experience rooms, and a memorial hall, and is expected to become a key hub for strengthening Korea-France friendship and promoting international cultural exchange. In particular, Yangpyeong County has signed a friendship exchange agreement with the French city of Suippes and is expanding international cooperation by creating spaces dedicated to historical research and Governor Hong Jaeha.

The county is also expediting the "Gudun Art Station" project, which is being developed in the Jipyeong-myeon area.

Gudun Station is well known as a filming location for the movie "Architecture 101," and the surrounding area is being developed into a cultural tourism complex covering approximately 66,000 square meters with a budget of 18.7 billion KRW. The site will feature various cultural content such as a film and music workshop, a culture and arts center, a gallery, rest facilities, and a flea market, making it an emerging attraction for tourists. Gudun Art Station aims to utilize Yangpyeong's cultural assets to create a new tourist destination where local residents and visitors can come together.

Jeon Jinseon, Governor of Yangpyeong County, stated, "We will systematically reorganize the tourism resources in the eastern region of Yangpyeong and connect each area to create attractive spaces. We will continue our efforts so that this revitalization of tourism leads to economic growth, enabling Yangpyeong to become a leading tourism city nationwide."

Meanwhile, Yangpyeong County aims to ensure economic stability and the revitalization of the old downtown area through the development and reorganization of tourism content. Through these efforts, the county plans to create new jobs for local residents and provide a variety of attractions for tourists.
