#Seven-year-old Yujin (pseudonym) lost consciousness and experienced convulsions due to a fall, requiring emergency surgery. While her life was saved, she now breathes through a tracheostomy tube and receives nutrition via a nasal feeding tube. After four months of hospital treatment, she was discharged, but she still needs a significant amount of medical consumables each month, as well as an expensive specialized stroller-type wheelchair for mobility.
KB Financial Group announced on April 28 that it will launch a "Home Medical Life Support" initiative to help severely ill pediatric patients like Yujin continue their treatment at home. The group will donate a total of 100 million won to Asan Medical Center and provide support for essential medical expenses, consumables, and the purchase of assistive devices necessary to sustain life.
In addition to this direct support, KB Financial Group will also provide indirect medical expense assistance to underprivileged children who are still undergoing hospital treatment but have limited access to medical care due to family circumstances.
The funds will be used for areas that are practically necessary to ensure children can continue their treatment without interruption. The group plans to systematically manage the program in cooperation with the Severe Pediatric Home Medical Care Team at Seoul Asan Medical Center, ensuring stable continuation of care.
A representative from KB Financial Group stated, "Beyond simple financial support, we aim to raise social awareness about the need for home treatment and its environment," adding, "Our goal is to provide practical support for the daily lives of families with children living outside the hospital."
