On the 28th, the city signed a business agreement with Hanyang University ERICA in the city hall conference room to jointly promote the 'Gyeonggi-do Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (RISE) Project'.

This project is an initiative in which the Ministry of Education transfers the authority for university financial support to local governments, enabling support for university innovation tailored to regional characteristics and development strategies. If selected through the competition, participants can receive financial support from the Ministry of Education.

Although Gwangmyeong City does not have a university within its jurisdiction, it decided to pursue this project at the suggestion of Hanyang University ERICA. Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to jointly establish a government-industry-academia cooperation system, create a foundation for local companies to grow, and enhance customized employment and entrepreneurship capabilities for citizens, thereby fostering local talent and strengthening industrial competitiveness.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will: ▲support the implementation of selected projects and unit tasks from the competition; ▲establish a cooperation system and provide promotional support to identify and address local issues; and ▲promote exchanges and cooperation necessary for the efficient execution of the project.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "Through this agreement, Gwangmyeong City, Hanyang University ERICA, and the local industry will build a robust ecosystem for mutual growth as strong partners," and added, "We will successfully establish this cooperation model so that the city can move forward as a self-sustaining economic city."
