Gyeonggi Fire Department Launches 'Creative Safety Awards' for Fire Prevention and More

The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is holding the 'Gyeonggi Creative Safety Awards' for individuals and organizations that have contributed to fire prevention and the establishment of a safety culture.

Now in its third year, the awards were created to discover and honor those who have prevented disaster incidents with creative ideas, aiming to increase interest and participation in fire prevention activities.

The headquarters selects three civilians and two organizations or institutions in both the first and second halves of the year. Not only Gyeonggi-do residents, but also residents and organizations from other regions, as well as local governments, are eligible for nomination.

Kim Jaebyung, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "The aerial ladder truck was also an invention created to protect the safety of citizens," adding, "We hope that a fire prevention culture created together by creative individuals and organizations in the local community will naturally become part of everyday life."

Meanwhile, last year's Gyeonggi Creative Safety Awards highlighted practical safety cases that could be applied in real situations, such as the installation of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based fire detection system, the establishment of evacuation plans for students with disabilities, and the independent development of equipment for responding to electric vehicle fires.
