Daegu Junggu to Completely Renovate Old Signboards at 102 Shops in Motorcycle and Mising Alleys

Junggu District of Daegu (District Mayor Ryu Kyuhwa) held a kick-off meeting for the "Design Development and Planning Service for Signboard Improvement Project" on April 25 in the district office's situation room, launching the full-scale implementation of the project for the areas of "Ingyeo-dong Motorcycle Alley" and "Daesin Mising Alley."

This project is being pursued after being selected in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 2025 Signboard Improvement Project competition. The main goal is to renovate the old and disorderly signboards in Ingyeo-dong and Daesin-dong, and to create a pleasant and harmonious street environment by introducing new signboard designs that reflect the local identity and the unique characteristics of the alleys.

The Junggu District Office of Daegu plans to go beyond simple maintenance and promote design improvements that highlight the historical and symbolic significance of these alleys, which are home to the roots of the motorcycle industry and the textile industry in Daegu.

The signboard improvement section covers a total of 680 meters and 102 businesses. The project includes signboard removal, building exterior maintenance, and the installation of autonomous building number plates, with the goal of completing the project within this year. The project budget amounts to 440 million KRW, funded by both the Korea Outdoor Advertising Center and the Junggu District Office.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the implementing agency, the design advisory panel, relevant district office officials, and local resident representatives. They shared design guidelines for each signboard type, plans for lighting, fonts, and color schemes, as well as facade design directions for different building types, and discussed ways to apply customized designs for each business.
