Everything about crafts at the Festa
The Korea Ceramic Foundation announced on April 28 that it will host the '2025 Gyeonggi Craft Festa in Spring' at the Yeoju Gyeonggi Craft Creation Support Center from May 1 to May 25.
This event is one of the main programs of 'Korea Craft Week 2025', which is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Craft and Design Foundation. It will be operated as an open space for creative activities where everyone?from citizens new to crafts, to creators, students, and experts?can enjoy together.
The festival, held under the theme 'Craft Connect: Linking Craft, Everyday Life, and Art', will feature a variety of programs, including: ▲ Craft Experience Day 'Open Craft Enjoyed at Your Fingertips' ▲ Craft One-Day Class 'A Day with Craft: Craft Journey' ▲ Stamp Tour Event 'Craft Challenge (C-C Passport)' ▲ Craft Open Studio 'From Prototype to Startup' ▲ Craft Academic Event 'Craft Roundtable'.
In particular, on May 10-11 and 17-18, 'Craft Experience Day' will be held for family visitors, offering free hands-on experiences in various fields such as 3D pen crafts, wooden chopstick making, and natural dyeing. The experiences will be held 12 times a day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with on-site registration for 20 participants per session on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority participation opportunities will also be provided through the stamp tour.
Additionally, for those seeking a more in-depth creative experience, 'Craft One-Day Class' will be held on May 17-18. There will be two sessions each day: a metal craft class making mother-of-pearl silver rings using traditional techniques, and a traditional liquor making class. Advance reservations can be made on the website of the Gyeonggi Craft Creation Support Center.
Alongside these, the exhibition 'From Prototype to Startup' will be held continuously in the center's lobby. Around 100 craftworks will be displayed, ranging from craft prototypes developed since 2021 to new products by entrepreneurs in 2025, showcasing creative trends and the potential for further expansion.
At 2 p.m. on May 16, the academic event 'Craft Roundtable', focusing on the practicality and artistry of crafts, will be held in the seminar room. The session will be chaired by Kim Ji-hye, professor of ceramics at Ewha Womans University, with presentations by Kim Jeong-seok, professor of glass at Hongik University, Hyun Gwang-hoon, CEO of Studio Three Hands (metal), and Yuk Sang-su, CEO of Wood Planet Magazine (woodworking), who will engage in an in-depth discussion on the theme 'The Boundaries of Craft: Between Utility and Art'.
Choi Moonhwan, CEO of the Korea Ceramic Foundation, said, "This event will go beyond simple hands-on experiences to become a venue for sharing and exchanging ideas about craft," adding, "I hope that all residents of the province can experience the joy of creation with their own hands and have a meaningful time encountering the present and future of craft."
