'Lee's Dominance' Reaffirmed with 53.67% Voter Turnout
Kim Kyung Soo Secures 3.90%, Kim Dong Yeon Gains 7.41%
Regional Primaries Move to Capital Area, Gangwon, and Jeju on the 27th
In the regional primary for the Democratic Party presidential candidate selection in the Honam region, candidate Lee Jae Myung secured first place with an overwhelming share of the votes.

At the "Joint Speech Meeting for the Selection of Candidates for the 21st Presidential Election in the Honam Region" held at the Kim Dae Jung Convention Center in Gwangju on the 26th, Lee Jae Myung achieved a landslide victory by receiving 178,090 votes (88.69%) out of a total of 208,090 votes, based on the tally of online, ARS, and on-site votes from delegates and party members with voting rights.
Kim Kyung Soo followed with 7,830 votes (3.90%), while Kim Dong Yeon received 14,889 votes (7.41%).
The voter turnout for this Honam regional primary was 53.67%, a level similar to the previous presidential primary. Notably, the number of party members with voting rights increased significantly from 210,000 in the last presidential election to 370,000 this time, with more than half participating in the vote.
In the earlier nationwide delegate vote, Lee Jae Myung also maintained first place with a vote share of 87.63%.
With these results, Lee Jae Myung continues to lead in the cumulative tally so far. Out of a total of 589,356 eligible voters, 338,794 (57.49%) have participated, and Lee Jae Myung has solidified his lead with a cumulative total of 301,673 votes (89.04%).
Kim Kyung Soo received 14,961 votes (4.42%), and Kim Dong Yeon received 22,160 votes (6.54%).
The Democratic Party will continue the regional primaries on the 27th in the capital region, Gangwon, and Jeju. After completing a total of four rounds of regional primaries, the final candidate will be determined by combining 50% of the votes from party members with voting rights and 50% from a public opinion poll.
