The 24th Damyang Bamboo Festival, which will be held from May 2 to 6 at Juknokwon, is fully prepared to captivate visitors with a diverse array of content and to establish itself as a stay-type festival.

This year’s festival, themed "Damyang Dyed in Green - The Bamboo Feast with Daenamoo," coincides with the golden holiday period and will welcome visitors of all ages with a rich program that includes performances, hands-on experiences, and nighttime events.

On the opening day, May 2, a youth drawing contest and a senior fashion show will be held in the morning at Flower Tower Square. At 4:30 p.m., a grand opening parade featuring a marching band will proceed from the Tourist Information Center to the main stage in the Jeonnam Provincial University parking lot, officially kicking off the festival. This will be followed by the opening ceremony and performances by singers Lee Chanwon and Ji Changmin at 5:00 p.m., and a spectacular drone light show at 8:50 p.m. will mark the festival’s vibrant start.

On the second day, May 3, the 46th County Residents’ Day event will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by a congratulatory performance by guest singer Kim Taeyeon at 3:00 p.m. and performances by local artists. From 7:00 p.m., the Bamboo Concert will heat up the evening with a solid lineup including the Kim Kyungho Band and Hwang Yunseong.

On May 4, the festival will feature the Juksinje ritual to pray for the successful conclusion of the festival and the well-being of visitors, as well as a bamboo shoot cooking contest using Damyang’s specialty, bamboo shoots. Youth performances by groups such as Cracksy and The Blue Eyes will also take place.

There will be performances of the children’s musical Bebepin (10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.), the Dambit Youth Dance Festival at 2:00 p.m., and a magic show. At Chuseong Stadium, family-friendly programs such as a bamboo drone-making experience (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) will be offered, and in the evening, singers including Hwang Garam and Hwayoung will take the stage. The final day of the festival, May 6, will conclude with a bamboo ensemble concert and performances by local artists.
