On the afternoon of April 25, Park Kangsoo, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the site of a sudden sinkhole incident at 161 Daehyeong-ro to inspect the situation and discuss future response measures.
Mayor Park was on his way back after completing the scheduled "On-site Mayor's Office" event when he received news of the unexpected accident and immediately changed direction to head to the scene.
Although there were no casualties, there were concerns about potential secondary damage due to the road collapse. Park Kangsoo, Mayor of Mapo District, checked the site control situation and discussed the identification of the cause and safety measures with relevant departments.
Mayor Park stated, "Although this was an unforeseen accident, even the smallest safety issues must never be overlooked," and added, "We will take swift action with the safety of residents as our top priority."
Earlier that day, through the "On-site Mayor's Office," he visited the Nanji Rainwater Pumping Station and Mangwon 2 Rainwater Pumping Station in succession to inspect the structure of each facility and check the status of unused spaces.
The "On-site Mayor's Office," now in its 471st and 472nd sessions, was attended by approximately 15 officials, including heads of relevant departments, who visited the sites.
The district plans to actively review various ways to utilize the unused spaces identified during this inspection so that they can benefit the local community.
Park Kangsoo, Mayor of Mapo District, said, "Depending on how we utilize these unused spaces, we can improve residents' quality of life and contribute to the local economy," and added, "I hope the relevant departments will work together to consider how best to use these spaces from the residents' perspective."
