The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on April 25 that its 'Export Expansion Plan for the Promotion of the Korean Wave Industry and Related Industries' has won the Grand Prize at the 14th Korea Policy Awards.
The 'Export Expansion Plan for the Promotion of the Korean Wave Industry and Related Industries' was highly praised for reflecting a wide range of on-site opinions, such as establishing public-private cooperation systems like the 'K-Content Export Council.' In addition, the plan was recognized as an exemplary case for expanding the achievements of the Korean Wave to related industries through collaboration with relevant ministries, moving beyond previous content-centered promotion policies. Notable initiatives included the joint inter-ministerial Korean Wave Expo, the operation of the permanent overseas promotion center 'KOREA360,' and support for Korean Wave marketing (PPL).
Based on these achievements, the Ministry will strengthen its policies to further spread the Korean Wave this year. Domestically, a new large-scale Korean Wave event called 'My K-Festa' will be launched, and the number of joint inter-ministerial 'Overseas Korean Wave Expos,' which have received strong support from the private sector, will be increased by one to a total of three events.
On April 25, Vice Minister Yong Hosung attended the '2025 Korean Association for Policy Studies Spring Conference' held at the LW Convention Center in Seoul as a representative and received the Grand Prize.
Vice Minister Yong stated, "The Korean Wave, which began with popular culture, has now expanded to encompass pure arts, traditional culture, and related industries such as K-food and K-beauty, making the experience of Korean culture itself synonymous with the Korean Wave. The government will actively support the sustainable development of the Korean Wave for the next 20 years and beyond, building on the achievements of the past 20 years."
