Securing a Production Capacity of 995,000 Liters
Yuhan Chemical, a global API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization), announced that it has secured a total production capacity of 995,000 liters through the successful completion of the expansion of Bay 2 in the HB Building at its Hwaseong Plant. This follows the completion of Bay 1 in the HB Building in November 2023 and is regarded as a significant advancement that has dramatically expanded Yuhan Chemical's production capabilities.
According to Yuhan Chemical on April 25, the company held a ceremony on April 18 to present plaques of appreciation to outstanding partner companies, including construction firms that participated in the expansion of Bay 2 in the HB Building.
The HB Building at Yuhan Chemical's Hwaseong Plant has strengthened its quality management system for eco-friendly production and stricter regulatory compliance by equipping continuous production (flow chemistry) facilities and a network system to ensure data integrity of production equipment. With this expansion, Yuhan Chemical has established a production base at the Hwaseong Plant, following the Ansan Plant, that enables the company to provide customized, one-stop CDMO services for everything from small-scale clinical production to commercial-scale manufacturing.
Chief Executive Officer Lee Youngrae stated, "The completion of the HB Building goes beyond simply expanding production capacity; it is highly meaningful in that Yuhan Chemical has secured the competitiveness to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading CDMO companies. We will continue to enhance our quality, technology, and eco-friendly production capabilities to deliver greater value to our customers and society."
Meanwhile, since officially declaring its commitment to ESG management in 2022, Yuhan Chemical has strengthened its profile as a sustainable company by acquiring numerous international certifications, including the submission of SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) reduction targets, ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), ISO 27001 (information security), and ISO 22301 (business continuity).
Yuhan Chemical plans to further expand its presence in the global market based on ongoing innovation and global-level quality and production competitiveness, aiming to become a "sustainable global API CDMO leader" that contributes to improving human health and quality of life.
