A fire broke out at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
According to fire authorities on April 25, a report was received at 11:06 a.m. that a fire had started at a restaurant on the second floor of COEX. Firefighters responded to the scene and mobilized 71 personnel and 20 vehicles, bringing the main blaze under control by approximately 11:42 a.m., about 30 minutes after the fire began.
Hundreds of people, including COEX visitors and employees, evacuated the building. As of now, there have been no reported casualties. Due to the fire, the Samseong-dong area was temporarily engulfed in thick black smoke.
The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once it is fully extinguished.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government restricted some lanes on Yeongdong-daero between COEX and Samseong Station due to the fire at COEX.
