A Total of 14 Cleanup Events Through September
Approximately 1,400 Participants and 40 Tons of Waste Expected to Be Collected

On April 27 at 9:00 a.m., the Ulsan city government will hold a marine cleanup campaign titled "All Together for Clean Seas" at Bangeojin Port in Dong-gu to reduce marine litter.

This event has been organized as part of efforts to improve the urban environment and create a clean marine environment ahead of the 2028 International Garden Expo, with the goal of making Ulsan a beautiful and attractive city that people want to visit again.

Approximately 150 people will participate in the event, including about 100 members of private marine protection organizations (with 30 professional scuba divers), the Bangeojin fishing village association, fishermen's groups, and the Coast Guard.

Participants will use equipment such as boats and cranes to collect underwater waste materials and discarded fishing gear, remove litter from the coastline, organize fishing gear and abandoned stockpiles, and conduct promotional activities to raise awareness about marine environmental protection.

A city official stated, "Marine litter is not just an environmental issue but also an important matter that affects the local economy and tourism industry," adding, "We have organized this campaign with the hope of successfully hosting the 2028 International Garden Expo and with the intention of uniting everyone to create a 'clean sea, clean Ulsan.'"

Starting with this campaign, Ulsan plans to carry out a total of 14 marine cleanup activities through September, encouraging not only private organizations but also fishermen themselves to participate in maintaining the marine environment.

The cleanup activities will target a total of 14 fishing ports and nearby coastlines: Bangeojin Port, Jujeon Port, Sangjin Port, and Ilsan Port in Dong-gu; Jeongja Port, Jejeon Port, Uga Port, Dangsa Port, and Eomul Port in Buk-gu; and Gangyang Port, Daesong Port, Nasa Port, Sinam Port, and Sinri Port in Ulju-gun.

Participating organizations include the respective fishing village and fishermen's associations, the Ulsan Marine Corps Veterans Association, Ulsan Special Disaster Rescue Team, and the Ulsan branch of the Korea Disaster Rescue Team, totaling approximately 1,400 participants. The planned amount of waste to be collected is about 40 tons.
