Dobong District's Sock and Eco-Friendly Clothing Companies See Global Expansion Potential in Atlanta

Dobong District (headed by Mayor Oh Unseok) has achieved another remarkable result in Atlanta, United States.

Previously, in 2023, the district participated in the Los Angeles (LA) Korean Festival, where it sold socks and cosmetics worth $20,000 and signed export contracts for cosmetics worth $100,000.

In 2024, at the same festival, it achieved sales of $40,000 by selling socks and eco-friendly clothing, and recorded $50,000 in export consultation deals.

This year, the district turned its attention to Atlanta. From April 14 to April 20, Dobong District dispatched an overseas trade delegation to Atlanta, United States, to support local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners in expanding into overseas markets.

Three local companies participated: the Dobong Socks Manufacturing Association (represented by Park Byungsoo), eco-friendly paper leather goods manufacturer Studio Plu (represented by Kim Yoonji), and customized software development cooperative Modusys Cooperative (headed by Lee Byungchang).

During the Atlanta visit, these companies achieved a total of 81 business-to-business (B2B) consultations worth approximately 5.1 billion KRW and signed 10 business agreements at events such as the 2025 World Korean Business Convention.

At the World Korean Business Convention, they operated a corporate exhibition booth to display and promote their products and held one-on-one export consultations with local buyers. Additionally, they signed a total of seven business agreements with buyers.

A district official stated, "Through proactive marketing strategies at the large-scale international economic event, the World Korean Business Convention, we were able to significantly raise the brand awareness of Dobong District companies and achieve many results," adding, "We are currently negotiating with several companies to secure additional overseas promotional opportunities."

Oh Unseok, Mayor of Dobong District, said, "This visit to Atlanta, United States, has helped lay the foundation for the long-term growth of local companies," and added, "We plan to continue administrative support so that local companies can become more competitive and grow further in the global market."

In addition to the World Korean Business Convention, the delegation also signed three strategic business agreements with prominent economic organizations in the Americas during the Atlanta trip, including the Atlanta chapter of OKTA (World-OKTA), the Atlanta Georgia Korean Chamber of Commerce, and the Utah Korean Chamber of Commerce. The agreements include practical economic cooperation such as supporting Dobong District companies' entry into the U.S. market and connecting them to local distribution networks.
