Yeosu City Accelerates Efforts to Attract Jeonnam Provincial Literature Museum

Interim Report Meeting on the Feasibility Study

Yeosu City announced on April 24 that it has taken concrete steps toward attracting the Jeonnam Provincial Literature Museum.

On April 22, the city held an interim report meeting for the "Feasibility Study for Attracting the Jeonnam Provincial Literature Museum and Establishment of the Yeosu Literature Promotion Plan" at the program room of the Life Culture Center.

Yeosu City Accelerates Efforts to Attract Jeonnam Provincial Literature Museum Yeosu City Hall building exterior.

The purpose of this interim report meeting was to share the progress of the study and to strengthen the case for attracting the museum by gathering opinions from stakeholders, including members of the provincial and city councils and literary associations.

Through this study, the city plans to comprehensively analyze Yeosu's abundant literary assets, cultural infrastructure, and citizen demand, with the aim of demonstrating the city's suitability as the optimal location for the Jeonnam Provincial Literature Museum.

In particular, Yeosu is a city of literature that not only possesses historical literary heritage such as the Nanjung Ilgi of Yi Sun-sin, but has also produced numerous literary authors. The city continues to expand its literary foundation through the activities of various literary organizations, as well as a range of literary events and festivals.

Going forward, the city intends to further systematize its case for attracting the museum and to develop a detailed strategy through a final report meeting scheduled for June. In addition, the city plans to proceed with follow-up steps, such as forming a committee to promote the construction of the literature museum.

A city official stated, "If the Jeonnam Literature Museum is built in Yeosu, it will greatly contribute to the promotion of local literature and the revitalization of cultural tourism," and added, "We will make every effort to ensure that Yeosu can emerge as the literary center of Jeonnam."

Meanwhile, since the project kick-off meeting on March 17, the city has been broadening consensus within the local community by holding events such as a 'meeting of local literary association representatives.'
