Gokseong County Holds Appointment Ceremony for New Members of the Local Era Committee

Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province, led by County Governor Cho Sangrae, newly formed the "Gokseong County Local Era Committee" and held a meeting in the Communication Maru of the county office on the afternoon of the 24th to proactively respond to rapidly changing policy environments.

As the terms of the previous committee members ended at the end of last month, the county appointed 11 new members with expertise in areas such as balanced development, population policy, agriculture, culture and tourism, and industrial economy.

The committee members will serve as advisors and participate in consultations on various balanced development projects, responses to the population decline crisis, and the establishment of regional development plans to realize the era of local settlement. The chairperson of the Gokseong County Local Era Committee will be Cho Junwon, the head of the Gokseong Cultural Center.

In the meeting held after the appointment ceremony, the committee reviewed and approved the "2025 Implementation Plan for Responding to Population Decline Areas," which is required to be established annually under the "Special Act on Support for Areas with Population Decline." The plan includes four main strategies and 40 detailed projects aimed at overcoming the crisis of regional extinction and promoting sustainable development.

Governor Cho Sangrae stated, "It is more important than ever to develop creative and innovative regional development strategies that respond quickly to changes in the policy environment and actively reflect the voices of county residents," adding, "I expect the Local Era Committee to play an active and cooperative role in the advancement of county administration."
