Gyeonggi Province will create 1,000 jobs for young people and middle-aged workers in the province through a customized support program for the root industry.
On April 24, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will support job creation in the root industry with the goal of employing 1,000 people, including young job seekers, this year through the "Local Experience-Based Job Project," which was selected in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's regional industry-customized job project competition.
The root industry forms the foundation of the manufacturing process. Gyeonggi Province has selected five key sectors?welding, mold making, surface treatment, injection and press, and precision and plastic forming?as strategic industries for focused support.
To this end, the province will provide the following: the "Job Leap Incentive" for job seekers aged 35 and older and for hiring companies; the "Youth Career Formation Incentive" for young people aged 15 to 34; and the "Job Retention Support Fund" to encourage long-term employment.
In addition, the province will offer on-site consulting and support for improving the production environment for root industry companies. Through the operation of an integrated job governance system for the root industry, the province also plans to hold policy briefings, job policy forums, and practical working group meetings for job creation projects.
Job seekers can apply through the job platform "Jobaba Apply" (apply.jobaba.net), while companies can receive guidance on the support process through the Gyeonggi Regional Human Resources Development Committee.
Bae Jinggi, Director of Job and Economic Policy at Gyeonggi Province, said, "The root industry is the foundation of Gyeonggi's manufacturing sector and a driving force for regional economic growth," adding, "We will build an employment-friendly ecosystem and complete a job innovation model that both young people and companies can truly experience."
