The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office announced on the 24th that, ahead of the 2nd Fallen Military Officers' Memorial Day, it visited bereaved families to express condolences and gratitude.
The condolence visit, held that day in Saengyong-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, was conducted to honor the noble sacrifice of the fallen and to share in the pain of their families.
Director Kim stated, "We will always remember the sacrifice of those who dedicated themselves to the nation and their families," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to enhance the honor and welfare of the bereaved families."
Meanwhile, Fallen Military Officers' Memorial Day was established to ensure that the sacrifice of military officers who died while fulfilling their conscription duty to defend the nation and protect the lives and property of the people is not forgotten and is properly commemorated.
