Hampyeong County Hosts "Photo Day" with Daycare Children and Butterflies

Hampyeong County in South Jeolla Province announced on April 24 that it held a special "Photo Day" event for children ahead of the opening of the 27th Hampyeong Butterfly Festival.

About 20 children from the Jakwang Daycare Center in Hampyeong-eup participated in the Photo Day event, which took place at the Butterfly and Insect Ecology Center in Hampyeong Expo Park.

The butterflies featured at the event were raised directly by the Hampyeong County Agricultural Technology Center. Various species were prepared, including this year's representative butterfly, the Old World Swallowtail, known for its vibrant wings, as well as the Cabbage White butterfly.

This year's Butterfly Festival, held under the theme "Butterfly Meets the Golden Bat," will take place across Hampyeong Expo Park for 12 days, from April 25 to May 6.

The festival will offer visitors a magical experience with spring flowers decorating the Expo Park and over 200,000 live butterflies from 17 different species. In addition, exotic plants will be on display in the succulent plant hall, natural ecology hall, subtropical agriculture hall, and aquatic plant hall.

Other attractions include the Memory Workshop, which recreates scenes from old Hampyeong, and the Golden Bat Exhibition Hall. A rich lineup of cultural and artistic performances, such as the Butterfly Parade Show and national busking and butterfly dance competitions, is also drawing significant interest from visitors.

County Governor Lee Sangik said, "With Hampyeong's representative butterflies and golden bats coming together, this year's Butterfly Festival will be even more vibrant," adding, "I hope visitors to the festival will fully enjoy the spring atmosphere in Hampyeong."
