Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office Nursery School Expands by 50 Children... Largest in the Nation

Completion of Tree Building Featuring Five Childcare Rooms and an AI Learning Room... Capacity Increased to 273
Governor Kim Tae-heum: "We Will Provide the Best Childcare Environment and Create a Workplace Culture Where Employees Can Thrive"

Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office Nursery School Expands by 50 Children... Largest in the Nation The Chungnam Provincial Office Nursery School held a tree building extension ceremony.

Chungcheongnam-do has expanded the workplace nursery within the provincial government office and increased its capacity, taking steps to create a work-family balance environment where employees can work with peace of mind and without childcare burdens.

On April 24, Chungcheongnam-do announced that it held the "2025 Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office Nursery School Tree Building Extension Ceremony" at the nursery's outdoor playground, with Governor Kim Tae-heum, nursery staff, and about 100 parents in attendance.

The Tree Building of the provincial office nursery was completed with a project budget of 2.1 billion won from the provincial government, after construction began in February last year and continued for over a year. The new facility, with a total floor area of 576 square meters, includes five childcare rooms, a playroom, and an artificial intelligence (AI) learning room.

With the completion of the Tree Building, following the existing Sprout, Leaf, and Fruit Buildings, the nursery's enrollment capacity increased by 50, from 223 to 273 children, making it the largest single workplace nursery among all metropolitan government offices nationwide.

Thanks to this expansion, the waiting list for all age groups (1 to 5 years old), except for infants under one year, has been eliminated, and it is expected that the childcare burden for employees who have been waiting for the lottery admission will be significantly reduced.

The province plans to continue its efforts to create a family-friendly organizational culture where it is easy to raise children and work, by improving the childcare environment through the nursery expansion and by introducing initiatives such as the nation's first four-day workweek in the public sector, expanding family care time, and giving preferential treatment in personnel matters to employees with multiple children.

On the day of the ceremony, Governor Kim Tae-heum stated, "The Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office Nursery School has grown to become the largest nursery in the country, with the highest number of children and teachers among the 17 metropolitan governments nationwide. We will continue to do our best to provide the best childcare environment for our staff and to create an organizational culture that is conducive to working well."

Meanwhile, the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office Nursery School is located on the first floor of the government annex, equipped with 21 childcare rooms, a kitchen, a playroom, and other indoor facilities, and is operated on a total area of 4,802 square meters, including the outdoor playground.
