Citizen-Centered 'Cheonwon Deogachi' Initiative Launched
12 Policies and 21 Village Projects Implemented in Parallel
Onnuri Payback, Cheonwon Meal, and Taxi Support Included

On April 24, Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju announced the launch of the '2025 Together for Livelihood Project' to alleviate the burdens faced by citizens during the ongoing economic crisis. This initiative, with a total budget of 14 billion won, aims to provide tangible support to residents while simultaneously invigorating the local economy.

The project is structured around two main pillars. The first, the 'Cheonwon Deogachi Project,' is a set of practical, everyday policies that allow citizens to enjoy benefits for just 1,000 won in this era of high prices. It includes 12 programs such as Cheonwon Payback, Cheonwon Meal, Cheonwon Side Dish, Cheonwon Taxi, and Cheonwon Hospital Companion.

Among these, the flagship 'Cheonwon Payback' program offers a 10% cashback on purchases made with Onnuri gift certificates. The 'Cheonwon Taxi' service for seniors and people with disabilities in rural areas, as well as the 'Cheonwon Meal' and side dish programs for vulnerable groups, will also continue to operate.

The second pillar, '21 Ways to Revitalize the Local Economy,' consists of village-specialized projects led by each of the 21 neighborhoods in Gwangsan-gu. Residents' councils and merchants' associations are working together to promote local businesses and organize consumption-boosting events. Notable examples include the 'MaeulON' local currency in Songjeong 1-dong, the 'Jajugage' campaign in Usan-dong, and the creation of the 'Cheonwon Win-Win Street' in Cheomdan 2-dong.

In addition, the district is implementing various measures to stabilize livelihoods, including support for small business credit card fees, improvements to the business environment, energy assistance for vulnerable groups, and relay busking events featuring local artists.

Mayor Park Byungkyu stated, "We will overcome the economic crisis in solidarity with our citizens," adding, "We will thoroughly monitor the practical effects and sustainability of the livelihood project."
