First Round of Online Applications and Registration Starts on the 24th
Announcement for Senior and Digital Vouchers Scheduled for the Second Half of the Year
The Daejeon city government announced that it will fully implement the "2025 Lifelong Education Voucher Support Program" to ensure that citizens can access learning opportunities regardless of location or environment.
The Lifelong Education Voucher is a program jointly operated by the national and local governments to reduce educational disparities caused by social and economic conditions and to provide tailored learning support. The city has designated the Daejeon Institute for Lifelong Education Promotion as the dedicated agency for this project.
The program targets low-income groups such as recipients of basic livelihood security and those in the near-poor category (aged 19 and older), seniors (aged 65 and older), and adults (aged 30 and older) who wish to enhance their digital skills. The city plans to issue vouchers worth a total of 900 million won to approximately 2,600 people.
First, the "general voucher" application for recipients of basic livelihood security and the near-poor, who are the primary support group, will be accepted from April 24 to May 14 via the Daejeon Lifelong Education Voucher website. The schedule for the second round of applications and registration for seniors and digital vouchers will be announced in the second half of the year.
Those selected to receive the voucher will be awarded points worth 350,000 won per person on an NH Nonghyup Cheum Card, which can be used to pay for course fees and textbooks.
Voucher holders can use them to enroll in courses such as certification acquisition, entrepreneurship, language, humanities, and AI·digital fields at vocational training centers, lifelong education facilities, and lifelong vocational education academies.
Eligible institutions where the voucher can be used are listed on the Daejeon Lifelong Education Voucher website.
Ko Hyundeok, Director of Education Policy and Strategy for the Daejeon city government, stated, "We hope that the Lifelong Education Voucher will serve as a valuable stepping stone, providing citizens with opportunities for challenge and achievement."
