Eugene Investment & Securities, the financial affiliate of Eugene Group (Chairman Yoo Kyung-sun), announced on April 24 that it has donated flowering trees to the Cheolgil Forest, a well-known walking trail in Pohang, to mark the first anniversary of the opening of its Pohang WM Center.
This donation was arranged to commemorate the first anniversary of the Pohang WM Center and to strengthen ESG cooperation with the local community. The company donated and planted Rosa rugosa trees near Section 1 of Cheolgil Forest, a popular walking route for Pohang citizens, thereby supporting one of Pohang City's major projects: the creation of a "climate-responsive urban forest."
Rosa rugosa is a tree species known for its strong vitality and vibrant flowers, and is considered to contribute to expanding urban ecological diversity and improving the landscape. Notably, it is the only flowering tree planted in this section, further enhancing the symbolic and healing identity of Cheolgil Forest.
On April 23, a commemorative plaque ceremony was held, with key officials from Pohang City Hall and Eugene Investment & Securities participating in the tree planting and donation event.
At the ceremony, Jung Ae-jin, Head of the Pohang WM Center at Eugene Investment & Securities, stated, "This tree donation is especially meaningful as it represents a joint effort between Pohang City and Eugene Investment & Securities to create a climate-responsive urban forest. We will continue to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality together with the local community and pursue sustainable social contribution activities."
The Pohang WM Center of Eugene Investment & Securities, which was launched last year, is a large, upscale branch created by merging the former Pohang and Pohang North branches, and is staffed by 18 private bankers (PBs). In May last year, the center hosted a large-scale investment briefing attended by major affiliates of POSCO and has been actively providing tailored financial services to meet the unique characteristics of the region and the needs of its clients.
