Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation (President Namil Kim) held an information session for tenants and investors regarding the 'Bomun Tourist Complex Private Investment Environment Improvement Project' at the corporation's main conference hall on April 23.

This project, launched in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the designation of the Bomun Tourist Complex?the first tourist complex in Korea?and the upcoming 2025 APEC Gyeongju Summit, is part of the 'Bomun Investment Innovation Project' jointly promoted by Gyeongbuk Province and the corporation. The initiative aims to attract large-scale investments from creative and competitive private companies to the Bomun Tourist Complex by significantly improving conditions for private investment.

According to a survey conducted by the corporation last year among its tenants, the 'rigidity in the classification of facility zones within the tourist complex' was identified as the biggest obstacle to business development. In response, the corporation plans to allow applicants to request changes to the zoning plan for facility zones they wish to invest in, provided that new investments are proposed. Companies interested in participating must submit their business plans by the end of July, and the final participants will be selected through a review by the evaluation committee in August.

This project is being actively supported by Gyeongbuk Province, which is investing 100 million won of provincial funds. Both Gyeongbuk Province and the corporation plan to complete all administrative procedures within this year and begin full-scale construction in 2026.

Additionally, this project will utilize the newly introduced 'Complex Facility Zone' system, implemented through the revision of the Tourism Promotion Act, to allow two or more facilities with different purposes and uses to be harmoniously established on a single site. This will resolve the inconvenience of existing usage restrictions between facilities and further strengthen the competitiveness of the tourist complex through convergence and integrated development.

Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation plans to transform the Bomun Tourist Complex into a global tourism MICE hub by attracting global events.
