Jinju City Holds Team Pledge Ceremony for the 28th Gyeongsangnam-do Disabled Sports Festival

279 Athletes to Compete in 26 Events at This Year's Jinju Tournament
Team Pledges to Deliver Strong Performances

The Jinju City Disabled Sports Association in Gyeongnam announced on the 24th that it held a team pledge ceremony for the Jinju City athletes ahead of their participation in the 28th Gyeongsangnam-do Disabled Sports Festival at the Jinju City Disabled Culture and Sports Center, where the team pledged to perform well.


The ceremony was attended by Jinju Mayor Jo Gyu-il, Jinju City Council Vice-Chair Hwang Jinseon, city council members, heads of organizations and facilities for the disabled, executives of the Disabled Sports Association, and presidents of affiliated organizations. They reflected on the significance of the disabled sports festival and encouraged the Jinju City athletes.

This year, the Jinju City team will compete in 26 events with 279 athletes. Following their overall first place in team events last year, they are expected to achieve strong results again this year in various disciplines such as rowing, baduk, boccia, and lawn bowls.


Mayor Jo Gyu-il said, "I wish the best for the athletes representing Jinju City. I applaud the passion and determination of the athletes who have completed their rigorous training and are moving vigorously toward their individual goals."


He added, "Since this is the first time in seven years that the festival is being held in Jinju City, we will prepare to ensure the event is safe and held in an optimized venue so that the athletes can perform at their best."


Meanwhile, the 28th Gyeongsangnam-do Disabled Sports Festival is the largest sports event for the disabled in Gyeongsangnam-do and will be held in Jinju City for the first time in seven years. The festival will take place from May 8 to 9, with more than 3,500 athletes from 18 cities and counties participating. Athletes will showcase the skills they have honed in a total of 29 events.
