Jungnang District Elementary Students to Experience "Traditional Rice Planting"

Direct Experience of Rural Culture for Elementary Students:
Hand Rice Planting and Golden Apple Snail Release
First-Come, First-Served Applications from April 28 to May 7

Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) will hold a "Traditional Rice Planting Experience" program for local elementary school students on May 16 at the Jungnang Happy Farm No. 1 rice paddy in Sinnae-dong (around 256-9 Sinnae-dong).

This experience will last about one hour and is designed to allow children to experience rural culture firsthand through a variety of activities, including: understanding the growth process from rice plant to rice grain, making rice seedling pots, traditional hand rice planting, and releasing golden apple snails.

In particular, the "making rice seedling pots" activity, one of the program's features, involves upcycling transparent plastic cups (such as iced drink cups) commonly used in daily life into new plant pots. Children can take home the pots they make and observe the rice plants' growth process, learning about the meaning of life and growth.

Through the hand rice planting experience using a rice planting rope, children can experience traditional rural farming methods and, by releasing golden apple snails themselves, also learn about the eco-friendly "golden apple snail farming method."

The participation fee is 1,000 won per person. Applications can be submitted online on a first-come, first-served basis through the "Resident Participation → Online Application → Traditional Rice Planting Experience Application" menu on the Jungnang District Office website from 10:00 a.m. on April 28 to 6:00 p.m. on May 7.
