Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mikyung) announced on April 24 that it is focusing on providing customized lifelong learning guidance, including the nation's first development of the 'Adult Learning Style Test (ALST)' in collaboration with the Eunpyeong-gu Lifelong Learning Center.
The Adult Learning Style Test is a diagnostic tool designed to help adult learners understand their own learning styles and discover learning methods that suit them best. It is the result of a three-year joint development project by Eunpyeong-gu and the Lifelong Learning Center, which began in 2022.
The test consists of 20 questions in total and categorizes results into four types: active, logical, integrated, and strategic learners. The results are then used to guide individuals toward learning methods that fit their personal styles.
On April 17, more than 40 lifelong education professionals and stakeholders held a workshop at the Eunpyeong-gu Lee Hocheol Book Concert Hall to discuss the application and dissemination of the Adult Learning Style Test. The participants engaged in in-depth discussions about the practical applicability of the test tool and strategies for connecting it to educational settings.
This workshop included a variety of programs, such as sharing the development process and theoretical background of the tool, hands-on practice with the Adult Learning Style Test, group workshops based on the identified learning types, and discussions on practical applications in the field.
The Adult Learning Style Test is available at the Eunpyeong-gu Lifelong Learning Center. The district plans to assign facilitators to lifelong learning hubs in each region in the future, so that anyone can easily identify their learning style and apply it in practice. For more information, contact the Eunpyeong-gu Lifelong Learning Center at 02-351-3673.
A representative from the Eunpyeong-gu Lifelong Learning Center stated, "This new test tool will help adult learners gain self-understanding and encourage their continued participation in learning. We plan to expand the provision of customized learning guidance based on the test results."
