Gimcheon City Successfully Holds "2025 Arbor Day Commemorative Tree Planting Event" Baek Nakho, mayor of Gimcheon, is delivering a commemorative speech at the Arbor Day tree planting event.

The event took place on April 22, with around 400 participants, including citizens, public officials, and representatives from related organizations, all gathered with the goal of creating a "Green City Gimcheon."

Following the commemorative ceremony, the event continued with a tree planting experience. Participants personally planted around 200 Japanese cypress trees, reflecting on the importance of responding to climate change and achieving carbon neutrality.

In particular, the "Hope Tree" gift event, where children received saplings of local walnut varieties such as "Hwangak," "Gimcheon No. 1," and "Gimcheon No. 2," was met with an enthusiastic response.

Additionally, Gimcheon City organized a side event to distribute walnut and Yulma (an evergreen tree used for air purification) saplings, providing citizens with opportunities to practice environmental protection and carbon neutrality.

Participating citizens expressed their anticipation, stating, "We look forward to the trees we planted ourselves making our neighborhood and homes greener."

In his commemorative speech, Mayor Baek Nakho emphasized, "Each tree we plant today will become tomorrow's forest and a gift of a greener future for our descendants," urging citizens for their continued interest and participation.

Meanwhile, Gimcheon City plans to continue creating a sustainable natural environment through various greening projects, including urban forest creation, street tree maintenance, and the expansion of fine dust reduction forests.
