A Stronghold for Nurturing Talented Women in the Local Community

Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held the opening ceremony for the '2025 54th Gumi City Women's University' on April 22 at the Lifelong Learning Center, aiming to foster local female talent. Around 70 people, including new students and alumni association executives, attended the event to celebrate this new beginning together.

This year's Women's University will run every Tuesday for about six months until October 21, and is open to 50 women under the age of 55 residing in Gumi. The curriculum consists of 20 lectures covering a variety of fields, including women's leadership, humanities, arts, and current affairs, reflecting the latest trends in each area.


Additionally, workshops and team-building events involving both the alumni association and current students are planned, providing opportunities for exchange and collaboration among participants.


Since its establishment in 1985, Gumi City Women's University has produced a total of 4,938 graduates over 53 classes as of last year, playing a leading role in empowering local women. In particular, graduates have become strong supporters of the local community through various social contribution activities, such as scholarship donations, helping neighbors in need, and volunteering for meal services.


Kim Hyunju, Director of the Gumi City Lifelong Learning Center, said, "Our society today needs insightful female leaders who will lead the future," adding, "I hope this program will serve as a starting point for sharing and communication that not only supports personal growth but also contributes to the local community."
