Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) is set to fully implement the "2025 Agricultural Technology Dissemination Pilot Project" to promote the adoption of new agricultural technologies and enhance the competitiveness of local agriculture.
The "2025 Agricultural Technology Dissemination Pilot Project" involves pilot applications of newly researched and developed agricultural technologies to individual farms and farming organizations prior to their wider distribution among local farmers. The Gijang County Agricultural Technology Center will invest a total project budget of 205 million won across seven sub-projects.
The sub-projects include: ▲ a pilot project for labor-saving green onion cultivation, ▲ a pilot for new eco-friendly pest control technologies in greenhouse facilities, ▲ a pilot for temperature reduction technology to ensure stable, high-quality flower production during hot seasons, ▲ a pilot for the distribution of far-infrared heating lamps for livestock that eliminate fire risks, ▲ a pilot for greenhouse gas reduction technologies in facility cultivation using biochar and natural enemies, ▲ a pilot for nutrient solution cultivation technology for potted plants using sub-irrigation mats, and ▲ a pilot for new AI (air-suction type) nozzles and spraying devices for drones to reduce drift.
Since January, the Agricultural Technology Center has accepted applications from farms wishing to participate in the pilot projects and has completed on-site inspections. After review by the Gijang County Agricultural Industry-Academia Cooperation Deliberation Committee, final participants were selected based on their willingness to participate and the anticipated ripple effects. In March, pre-training was conducted for the final participants, marking the official launch of the project.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "By rapidly disseminating new agricultural technologies, we will proactively respond to the rapidly changing agricultural environment and work to enhance the competitiveness of local agriculture."
