Improving Hygiene Standards and Creating a Safe Dining Environment
On April 23, Jinan County in North Jeolla Province conducted hygiene education for existing operators of general restaurants in the area at the Jinan Cultural Center.
According to the county, this training was organized to improve the hygiene standards of dining establishments and to create a safe dining environment. Over 100 people, including current general restaurant operators and hygiene management supervisors, attended the session.

The training was hosted by the Jinan County branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Chapter. It is part of the mandatory annual legal education that existing operators, who have been in business for over one year since their business registration, are required to complete.
Through this session, the county focused on delivering practical content such as: ▲ methods for preventing food poisoning and managing hygiene ▲ major amendments to the Food Sanitation Act and policy directions ▲ and case studies on service improvement.
In particular, the training included sharing real-life cases of hygiene incidents that could occur in restaurants, as well as providing customer service training focused on hospitality, which was well received by participants.
At the entrance to the training venue, a promotional exhibition on food poisoning prevention was also set up, serving as an opportunity to raise awareness about the hygienic handling and management of food.
The county especially requested the voluntary hygiene management and cooperation of the local foodservice industry in anticipation of an increase in outside visitors for various sports and cultural events, including the 2026 Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Residents Sports Festival.
Kim Sahum, head of the county's Civil Service Department, stated, "Although the foodservice industry is facing difficulties due to the economic downturn, we hope that this training will help raise hygiene standards and build a friendly and clean image for local dining establishments. We also expect it will have a positive effect on creating a safe dining environment and revitalizing the local economy."
Meanwhile, existing operators who were unable to attend this group training must complete supplementary education through the Korea Foodservice Industry Association or the Korea Foodservice Industry Association by December 31 of this year. Failure to do so may result in a fine in accordance with the Food Sanitation Act.
