Yongin City Allocates 16.6 Billion Won in Supplementary Budget for Dongbaek and Bojung Welfare Centers Construction

The city explained that the funds secured through this supplementary budget include 7.5 billion won for the construction of the Dongbaek Integrated Welfare Center and 9.1 billion won for the Bojung Integrated Welfare Center. Previously, the city had allocated 13.7 billion won for the Dongbaek Integrated Welfare Center and 17 billion won for the Bojung Integrated Welfare Center in this year’s main budget.

The city plans to allocate an additional 7.1 billion won in the second supplementary budget, which is expected in September, bringing the total investment for this year to 54.4 billion won. The city stated that with the secured funds, both welfare centers will be able to open as planned in the spring of next year.

The Dongbaek Integrated Welfare Center is currently under construction at 866 Jung-dong, Giheung-gu, with two basement levels and five above-ground floors, totaling a gross floor area of 13,027 square meters. The center will feature a swimming pool with ten 25-meter lanes, a lifelong learning center, a senior welfare center, a youth culture house, and a daytime care facility for people with disabilities. Following the direction of Mayor Lee Sangil, family shower rooms and family changing rooms for people with disabilities will also be installed.

The Bojung Integrated Welfare Center will be built at 1264-2 Bojeong-dong, Giheung-gu, with one basement level and four above-ground floors, totaling a gross floor area of 15,838 square meters. Facilities will include a library, a gymnasium, a municipal daycare center, a senior welfare center, a youth culture house, a daytime care facility for people with disabilities, and a toy library.

The city aims to open both welfare centers in April next year, one month ahead of the original schedule, by managing construction progress and shortening the interior work period.

Mayor Lee stated, "These two integrated welfare centers are not just public facilities, but essential living infrastructure that will enhance the quality of life for our citizens," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that safe and pleasant welfare spaces can open as soon as possible."
