A hacking attack at SK Telecom has resulted in a customer data breach, prompting a police investigation.
On April 23, the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it had launched an investigation after receiving a report of hacking damage from SK Telecom the previous day.
The police plan to investigate the identity of the hacker who installed malware on SK Telecom's internal systems, as well as the scale and route of the data breach.
SK Telecom previously stated on April 19 that it had identified signs of information leakage, including USIM data, due to a malware attack by a hacker. The leaked information reportedly includes unique subscriber identification numbers.
