Gyeonggi-do is recruiting artists to participate in the 'Opportunity Income Artists Festival' until May 7.
The Opportunity Income Festival was planned as part of the Opportunity Income Expansion Project for Artists. It aims to enhance public understanding of Gyeonggi-do's arts policies by operating a festival where residents and opportunity income artists can participate together.
Last year, the festival was held in connection with local events, focusing on cooperation between the province and cities/counties and on raising awareness of related policies.
This year, Gyeonggi-do plans to support the growth of opportunity income artists by improving the festival to focus on joint performances by opportunity income artists and popular artists, special exhibitions centered on national and public galleries, and networking among artists. In addition to performances and exhibitions, the festival will diversify its genres to include film, musicals, and book talks.
Applicants must be individual recipients or teams that include opportunity income artists who benefited from the program in 2023 or 2024. They are required to submit an application form, documentation proving receipt of opportunity income for artists, a program plan, and a portfolio through the National Culture and Arts Support System (www.ncas.or.kr).
A Gyeonggi-do official stated, "Through the Opportunity Income Artists Festival, artists can create social value through their artistic activities, and residents can experience and spread that value by enjoying culture and the arts. We look forward to the participation of many artists who wish to contribute to the spread of social value."
Meanwhile, starting with last year's festival held in conjunction with Totojeul in Gyeonggi Sangsang Campus, the Opportunity Income Artists Festival provided opportunities for everyday enjoyment of culture and the arts to about 57,000 residents, with 269 artists participating across seven cities and counties.
