On April 23, the People Power Party announced presidential pledges aimed at reducing the burden on engaged couples, including normalizing the costs of Studio-Dress-Makeup (studio photography, dress rental, and makeup) services and expanding public wedding venues.

Kwon Seongdong, floor leader of the People Power Party, unveiled the "Lowering Burdens and Increasing Happiness, a Strong Korea from Marriage to Childcare" pledge at the National Assembly on this day. Kwon emphasized, "The current marriage service market repeatedly causes distress for engaged couples due to opaque contracts, false advertising, and excessive additional costs," and stressed the need for fair contracts from the very beginning of wedding preparations.

The costs associated with marriage and childbirth are cited as a major reason why young people are postponing marriage. In particular, Studio-Dress-Makeup costs are often not transparently disclosed to engaged couples, earning the nickname "opaque costs."

In response, the People Power Party plans to address abuses in the Studio-Dress-Makeup industry by introducing standard contracts, mandatory price labeling, subscription to guarantee insurance, and a business deposit system. The party also intends to enact the "Marriage Service Act" to resolve information asymmetry in marriage services and establish a basis for relief for victims.

The pledges also include utilizing public facilities managed by local governments, such as parks and museums, as wedding venues. Kwon stated, "We will expand cost-effective public wedding venues and enhance both dignity and convenience," adding, "We will build a nationwide integrated wedding venue reservation platform to improve transparency and user convenience in reservations."

Additionally, the party plans to introduce a mandatory evaluation system for postpartum care centers to address the issue of "opaque operations." Kwon said, "Although the usage rate of postpartum care centers reaches 80 percent, information about costs and services remains limited," promising to provide transparent information and encourage price stability and improved service quality.

Meanwhile, ahead of the June 3 presidential election, the People Power Party has launched a Presidential Pledge Planning Committee and is announcing presidential pledges, including ten key pledges. Previously, the party announced the introduction of a 4.5-day workweek, the relaxation of floor area and building coverage ratios for new apartment construction, and policies to promote the rights of people with disabilities as its first, second, and third pledges, respectively.
