Uljugun Postal Workers to Visit At-Risk Single-Person Households Twice a Month
Preventing Solitary Deaths Through the "Well-being Care Postal Service Project"
Uljugun in Ulsan announced on the 23rd that it has been selected for the second consecutive year for the "Well-being Care Postal Service Project" organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Last year, Uljugun was chosen for the pilot project of the "Well-being Care Postal Service" and implemented the program. This year, following its selection for the public contest, Uljugun secured a budget of 15 million won, including 7.5 million won in national funding and 7.5 million won from the Korea Post Public Foundation.
This year's project will be carried out from next month through December, targeting 175 single-person households in Uljugun who are at high risk of dying alone and require intensive management.
A postal worker will deliver daily necessities face-to-face to each household twice a month, check on the well-being of the resident, and report any crisis or unusual situation to Uljugun. In such cases, Uljugun and the customized welfare teams of each town and township will provide follow-up care.
Previously, on the 17th, Uljugun completed a working-level meeting with Ulsan Post Office, Namulsan Post Office, Eonyang Post Office, Onyang Post Office, and Uljugun Food Bank Market to discuss the implementation of the "Well-being Care Postal Service Project."
An official from Uljugun stated, "We will take the lead in working together with the local community to ensure there are no welfare blind spots and no risk of dying alone in Uljugun," and added, "We plan to identify new at-risk groups and prepare various programs and projects."
To address the issue of people dying alone, Uljugun is establishing a local care system by promoting various initiatives, including the "Uljugun-Style Prevention of Deaths Alone Project," the "Happy Village Care Project," and the "AI Speaker Smart Care Project."
