Osan City has been selected as the host city for the 2027 Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Festival and Gyeonggi Provincial Para Sports Festival, as well as the 2028 Gyeonggi Provincial Sports for All Festival and Gyeonggi Provincial Para Sports for All Festival.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced on April 23 that, following an eight-week application period for hosting the events that began in January, Osan City, which has no prior experience hosting these events, was the sole applicant to submit a bid.
Accordingly, the province formed an on-site inspection team of seven members, who visited the Osaek Culture and Sports Center and Osan Sports Complex on March 21 to inspect the sports facilities and evaluate overall conditions, including transportation, culture, and accommodation.
The inspection team submitted its opinion to the Gyeonggi Sports Promotion Council, stating that the strong enthusiasm of Osan citizens for hosting the events and the well-established cooperation system between Osan City and the city (para) sports councils made Osan a suitable host for the competitions.
At the second meeting of the Gyeonggi Sports Promotion Council held on April 1, the proposal to designate the host cities for the 2027-2028 Gyeonggi Provincial Comprehensive Sports Events was unanimously approved by all participating members, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Government officially selected Osan City as the final host.
Park Laehyuk, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "We will do our utmost in cooperation with Osan City to create a festival of sports unity for all 14.2 million residents of Gyeonggi Province."
