Public Can Pay Respects Starting on the 23rd
Pope Francis's funeral will be solemnly held at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican on April 26 (local time).
According to major foreign media outlets including AFP on April 22, the Vatican announced that the funeral for Pope Francis, who passed away the previous day, will take place at 10 a.m. on April 26 (5 p.m. Korean time) at St. Peter's Basilica, presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the Dean of the College of Cardinals.
The Pope's coffin is currently placed at the Domus Sanctae Marthae, his residence in the Vatican. It is scheduled to be transferred to St. Peter's Basilica at 9 a.m. on April 23. From that day, the general public will also be able to pay their respects to the Pope.
The Pope, who had been recovering after being hospitalized for pneumonia, passed away at the age of 88 the previous day due to a stroke and subsequent heart failure.
