Stepstone Group Opens Jeonju Liaison Office
Strengthening Overseas Alternative Investment Cooperation with the National Pension Service

The National Pension Service announced on April 22 that global alternative investment manager Stepstone Group will open a liaison office in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, and begin operations. Stepstone Group, which manages entrusted assets for the National Pension Service, established its Seoul corporation and office in 2014, and now, after 11 years, will have its second office in Korea.

Kim Taehyun, chairman of the National Pension Service, attended the opening ceremony of the Stepstone Group Jeonju liaison office held on this day in Manseong-dong, Jeonju. The event was also attended by Scott Hart, CEO of Stepstone Group, Jeffrey Giller, Head of Real Estate, and Marcel Schindler, Head of Private Debt.


Stepstone Group, established in 2007, managed a total of $698 billion in alternative investments?including corporate investments, real estate, infrastructure, and private debt?as of the end of 2024. The company employs more than 1,090 professionals across 16 countries and has been managing alternative investment assets for the National Pension Service since 2016. Through the Jeonju liaison office, Stepstone Group plans to provide strategic support to the National Pension Service, including investment advisory services and capital market research and analysis.


Chairman Kim stated, "The opening of this liaison office has established a foundation for close cooperation with Stepstone Group. Based on nearly a decade of collaboration, we hope to further strengthen our partnership in overseas alternative investments and contribute to the growth of the Jeonju community as well."


Meanwhile, since Chairman Kim assumed his position at the National Pension Service, six global asset managers have opened liaison offices in Jeonju: Franklin Templeton, BNY Mellon Investment Management Group, Blackstone, Hines, Tishman Speyer, and PIMCO. Among domestic asset managers, Koramco Asset Management has also opened a liaison office in Jeonju.
