Park Seungwon: "Expanding Customized Jobs for Middle-aged Job Security"

The "4050 Gwangmyeong-type New Leap Middle-aged Internship," introduced by Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province to support reemployment of middle-aged individuals and address manpower shortages at local small and medium-sized enterprises, has officially launched.

Gwangmyeong City Deploys First "4050 Middle-aged Interns" to Four Companies

On April 22, Gwangmyeong City announced that, as part of the 4050 Gwangmyeong-type New Leap Middle-aged Internship, it had placed four middle-aged workers at four local companies on April 21.

This project targets ten local companies with five or more employees that plan to continue employing middle-aged workers even after the internship ends.

Selected companies receive up to 80% of the wage for one middle-aged worker aged 40 to 59, for a maximum of eight months. If the company retains the worker as a regular employee for at least three months after the internship, an additional incentive of 2 million won per company is provided.

The city selected a total of nine companies for the program. Of these, nine middle-aged workers applied to six companies, and four workers were hired at four companies in this round. The five companies that have not yet hired anyone, along with one additional eligible company, will conduct another round of recruitment through an additional announcement later this month. For more information about the program, contact the Gwangmyeong City Job Creation Division.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "I hope this internship provides a second leap forward for the middle-aged and an opportunity for companies to secure talent," adding, "We will continue to pursue regionally tailored employment policies to ensure job stability and reemployment for the middle-aged."
