Chungnam Province to Inspect Marine Facilities at Risk of Pollution

Verification of Pollution Prevention Facility Installation by July 4

On April 22, Chungnam Province announced that it will conduct safety inspections on 54 coastal marine facilities managed by local governments by July 4, in order to prevent marine pollution accidents.

The marine facilities in Chungnam Province that have been reported include 6 directly managed by the province, 13 in Boryeong City, 2 in Seosan City, 22 in Dangjin City, 2 in Seocheon County, 2 in Hongseong County, and 7 in Taean County.

The main inspection items are: whether the reported information matches the actual facility status; whether facility owners have carried out their own safety inspections; whether access inspections have been conducted; and whether pollution prevention facilities have been installed.

Cho Jinbae, Director of the Marine Policy Division of Chungnam Province, stated, "Accidents at marine facilities can easily lead to large-scale disasters, so active safety management by facility owners is essential," and added, "We ask for your active cooperation in this safety inspection."
