The Democratic Party of Korea stated on April 22 that its position is clear: it will make another attempt to push forward the amendment to the Commercial Act, which was rejected in a re-vote at the National Assembly.
Roh Jongmyon, the Democratic Party's floor spokesperson, responded to reporters' questions after a party strategy meeting at the National Assembly regarding the timeline for reintroducing the Commercial Act amendment. He said, "We need to consider the specific approach in detail," but reaffirmed the party's intention to proceed.
Spokesperson Roh acknowledged, "There are questions about whether it is possible to reintroduce bills that were rejected, including the Commercial Act, during the presidential election season." However, he added, "We can consider options such as re-submitting the amendment, aiming for it to pass the standing committee, or targeting passage in the plenary session."
He went on to explain, "At this stage, it is difficult to specify a timeline for when we will move forward with the reintroduction." However, he also said, "We believe it is necessary to secure plenary session schedules, because there may be urgent bills that require prompt handling, and we must maintain strong oversight of the government."
