On April 22, Gwangju City announced that it will operate the "Year-Round Kimchi Making Program" at Gwangju Kimchi Town on the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays of each month, from April 26 to November 9.

This program was launched last year to reflect citizens' demand to make kimchi at any time, not just during the traditional kimjang season. Due to high participant satisfaction, the program will begin earlier this year, starting in April.

The sessions will be held at the Multipurpose Experience Hall in Gwangju Kimchi Town on the second and fourth weekends of each month. Participants can make and take home three types of kimchi selected as "Kimchi of the Month."

For April, Baechu Kimchi, Chonggak Kimchi, and Pa Kimchi have been selected. In May, to highlight the meaning of "sharing and solidarity," the kimchi making program will run every Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, there are plans to hold a "Round Rice Ball" making activity alongside the kimchi program.

Kimchi manufacturers and processors in the Gwangju area, certified with traditional food quality and HACCP, will participate in the event to supply and sell kimchi made with domestic ingredients at prices lower than market rates.

Individuals, companies, and organizations wishing to participate in kimchi making can apply in advance through the official website of the "Bitgoeul Love Sharing Kimjang Festival." However, the price of kimchi may change monthly to reflect the cost of raw ingredients.

Meanwhile, the main event, "2025 Bitgoeul Love Sharing Kimjang Festival," where participants can make and take home kimchi, will be held for 17 days from November 28 to December 14. Companies or organizations wishing to donate kimchi to vulnerable groups can do so year-round, and those interested in donating kimchi can contact the Bitgoeul Love Sharing Kimjang Festival office at any time.

Joo Jaehee, Director of the Economic and Startup Bureau, stated, "At Gwangju Kimchi Town, a year-round program is available where you can make and taste kimchi in every season. I hope many citizens and tourists will visit Gwangju Kimchi Town to discover the secrets of delicious Gwangju kimchi."
